Financial
Reporting Leader - SSA
Role
Summary/Purpose
The
Regional Financial Reporting Leader role in Global Operations – Finance reports
to the SSA Record-to-Report Leader, and is responsible for all financial
reporting activities in all the countries within Sub-Saharan Africa. The role
is responsible for leading financial monthly/quarterly close in line with US
GAAP requirements and building partnerships with other GE Businesses.
Essential
Responsibilities
Full
responsibility for ensuring accuracy and completeness of accounting entries in
accordance with US GAAP requirements;
Performing
monthly/quarterly reviews of the financial statements of all management
entities (MEs) to ensure integrity;
Drive
consistency in the quality and timely delivery of financial statements to other
GE Businesses monthly/quarterly;
Lead
monthly/quarterly close activities – driving the closing calendar, balance
sheet/P&L reviews and representation letter submissions for all MEs in the
region;
Lead
the timely completion of GAAP-to-STAT (G2S) reconciliations for all MEs in the
region;
Drive
the timely completion of Ledger tie-outs, reconciling balances in different
systems on a monthly basis;
Support
all financial audits in the region by coordinating the provision of required
financial data, reports/analysis;
Provide
leadership to a team of financial accountants in several countries in the
region – responsibility for the training and development of the team
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s
degree in accounting, finance, or other business related field and 6 years
progressive accounting or finance experience;
Professional
accounting qualification (e.g. CA, CPA, ACCA, ACA);
Demonstrated
proficiency in U.S. GAAP, local GAAP, IFRS and authoritative accounting
literature (i.e. FASB pronouncements)

processes and transactional flows;
Excellent
verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex
business issues in a clear/concise manner;

Clear
thinking/problem solving: successfully led projects/process improvements within
operations/finance functions; able to quickly grasp new ideas;

circumstances, and/or to work in ambiguous situations;
Integrity:
accepting and adhering to high moral, ethical, and personal values in
decisions, communications, actions and when dealing with others
