Cross River State College of Education – In line with the
relevant provisions of the law establishing the Cross River State College of
Education, Akamkpa, the Governing Council of the College has commenced the
processes for the appointment of a new Provost for the College. To this end,
applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post
of Provost.

Responsibilities
The Provost is the
Chief Executive of the College charged with the responsibility for matters
relating to the day-to-day running of the College, subject to the general
control of the Council
Requirements
The person to be appointed a Provost must:
Not be below the rank of a Chief Lecturer or
its equivalent.
Possess at least a
doctorate degree (PhD) from a recognized institution of learning.
Not be more than
sixty (60) years of age by the time of assumption of office (December 2013).
Be a reputable
academic and proven track record of scholarship and experience in College of
Education or any other tertiary education administration.
Be computer
literate.
Be conversant with
the vision and mission of the College and has capacity to pursue same.
Be morally sound
and show evidence of dynamic leadership that is capable of commanding respect
and loyalty from staff, students and the College community.
Be sufficiently
competent and have the administrative experience required to give sound
guidance to the Governing Council from time to time.
Be of sound health
with capacity to withstand the challenging demands of the office of the
Provost.
Have the capacity
and willingness to relate effectively with government, non-governmental
organizations, alumni and well-meaning Nigerians with a view to attracting the
required support for the College.
Tenure
The Provost shall hold office for a single term of five (5)
years only.
Conditions of Service
The remuneration and other Conditions of Service shall be as
approved by the Governing Council but comparable to those applicable to the
post of Provosts of other Public Colleges of Education in Nigeria.
